Equal Opportunities for All

Central to the ethos of South Kent College is its commitment to equal opportunities for all. The College is committed to establishing and maintaining an environment, which actively promotes equality of opportunity in all aspects of education, training and employment.

Our policy is simple. A student is treated without prejudice regardless of background, race, nationality, marital status, gender, disability, religion, culture, age, sexual orientation, disability or learning difficulty. We want to teach anyone who wants to learn, and we want to teach them in a stress free environment devoid of harassment, bullying and prejudice. Our on-going programme to improve practical facilities and services helps us to integrate people onto the most appropriate courses and levels to meet their needs. Positive About Disabilities

We encourage those with learning or physical disabilities to come to our College. Our commitment to Equal Opportunities is supported by The College's strategic planning which includes an on-going schedule for improvements to facilities for people with disabilities. The College also has a team of staff offering considerable expertise and College-wide additional support and discrete provision.

Where appropriate, facilities and equipment are provided so that people with disabilities can study on one of the College's main programmes - this includes enlargement of printed materials for the visually impaired. The College provides vehicle drop off points, wheelchair access and designated parking spaces and toilet facilities for disabled persons. Download a full version of the College's disability statement. A large print copy, translations or audio tape versions are available upon request.

Additional Support

We also offer one-to-one, specialist 'Additional Support' services and facilities for those who require extra help with their studies due to learning, emotional or behavioural difficulties, disabilities or health problems. We can provide in class learning support assistants, scribes or readers, a signer or interpreter for the deaf, mobility aids and specialist equipment or adaptations, as well as access arrangements or extra time where appropriate. Find out more information about our additional learning support.

An International Welcome!

Our College also welcomes applications from students all around the World - we offer a wide choice of suitable courses, and accommodation can be arranged. Social activities are organised to ensure that International students are integrated within the College and also have the opportunity to meet other students.

Open Days

Come along to one of our Open Days at Ashford, South Ashford, Dover or Folkestone where you can get more information about the support available as well as view The College's facilities and meet the staff.
