Aiming Higher & Moving On!

"I've finished my Level 3 course and want to progress onto a H.E course but don't want to move away from home"

Are you ready to progress onto H.E? Are you nervous about studying on a large University Campus? Would you prefer to study locally in a friendly and personal environment?

If you plan to develop a career or move on to a Higher Education (H.E) or degree course, there is no need to move away from home! South Kent College is an associate College of the University of Kent and run courses in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University College. This means you can stay near to your friends and family and save on those living costs but still gain a University accredited qualification and have the full use of all their on-campus facilities as well as ours. We offer both full-time and part-time courses to cater for those in employment, or with other commitments.

Our College is extremely proud of its students' successes, with many progressing and moving onto our own and other Higher Education courses and degrees.

What does it all mean?

Higher National Certificate/Diploma (HNC/HND)

These are some of the UK's most popular H.E vocational qualifications and are designed specifically to provide a skills and career based qualification. Certificates tend to be 2 years part-time and Diplomas tend to be 2 years full-time. These courses provide a route into gaining a full Honours Degree.

Foundation Degrees

Foundation Degrees are a new initiative designed to promote work-based learning and skills. They are flexible and involve different ways of learning including technical work based skills and academic knowledge. These vocational programmes will prepare students for progression onto an Honours Degree programme. Courses will include Construction; Business for Transport Logistics; Early Years; Care Management and Multi Media Computing. These are subject to approval from the University of Kent - please call for details.

Honours Degree (BA (Hons) or B Eng (Hons)

We offer a number of first degree programmes, validated by the University of Kent or Canterbury Christ Church University College, which enable you to progress on to a relevant Masters Degree or a professional qualification. Alternatively a first degree can provide you with excellent career prospects in a whole range of fields. A 1-year top-up degree enables HNC, HND, or Foundation Degree students to extend their qualification to a full Honours Degree.
